this issue is very tricky. notice you will never see some of the giant corporations that depend on illegal immigration hold a press conference denouncing it. whether we like it or not, the biggest industry in California, agriculture, DEPENDS on illegal immigration to keep labor costs down. we could build a moat, electrified fence, etc etc, but as long as people see working in america to be their best option because the country they currently live in is a sh#thole, we will have illegal immigration. and not one of you people who demonize illegal immigration wouldn't do the same thing if you were put into their shoes.

What a nice article! Cal Ripken, Sr. used the game of baseball to teach so many players and kids, his own included, how to succeed in life, and his legacy lives on through each of the lives he touched. The problem with us is that we put too much politics on the issue about BP oil leak. We must take note that if we are not going to solved this problem immediately, we will continuously be affected. BP oil leak is not just a part of the environmental problem but this is also included to the economic problem that we have. The oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico 2010 may have dumped up to 122 million gallons in 50 days. Just imagine the money that have been wasted there. In this kind of situation, it is better for us to extend our help in order to solve this problem.

a great article. it's amazing what has happened in South Africa. i was a little young during the end of apartheid. to see what south africa has become can only be a beacon for what the rest of the continent can do. and if South Africa can show this june that the continent of AFrica is able to showcase the greatest sporting event on the planet, that can only bring good things.

what a great night. i loved Dr. Ballard's talk. one thing that i really liked was that "saying" from his grandmother that i had never heard before. "great is the person who plants a tree knowing they will never sit in it's shade". wont forget it. and another thing.... Dr. Ballard downplayed his discovery of the hydrothermal vents. this discovery totally changed how we view life. life is not as fragile and as exclusive as we once thought. i also loved how he talked about NASA... the feuds between different areas of science can be quite interesting. great wrap up as well Steve

mr. hitchens is exactly right on. this is 2010, not 1210.... the pope and anyone that is an accessory to the rape and molestation of soooo many kids should be brought before the courts and tried, no matter what their title. bill maher made a comment a year or two ago.... he basically said that if a country wide daycare center had been involved in the coverup of ONE molestation case the CEO and anyone involved would be arrested and put on trial in a heartbeat..... but for some reason (religion) the catholic church gets a break.

i've seen documentaries on those vents in deep ocean. it was once thought that all life received energy in one form or another from the sun. then Dr. Ballard discovered these hydrothermal vents. they are extremely hot and pour out toxic fumes. but they found life there. life that existed without any ties to the sun. this discovery showed just how tenacious life is. and it opened our eyes to the fact the life can exist in many more forms and in many more environments then we ever thought. cant wait to see Dr. Ballard..... i've only heard great things about his talks.
